Hiring managers constantly lament that the pool of qualified candidates for their current staffing needs is thinner than ever. Not only are they finding the quantity to be quite low but the level of experience available is lacking.
As the media and government both keep telling us, unemployment in the U.S. remains historically low. Beyond that, the recession of 2008 pushed many people to either retire early or leave their lifetime careers behind to pursue other fields. This has left all of us with a rather enormous void of candidates to fill mid-level jobs in our country.
Recruiters know ways to identify qualified passive job seekers and also how to read between the lines of someone's work history to find you qualified individuals. Of course, staffing firms charge placement fees to find permanent hires and hourly rates to supply temporary or contract staff. In most cases, the cost of engaging a recruiter is more cost effective than conducting your own search.
