Snow Day = Search Day

Like so many others, I am sitting home waiting for the storm of the century to paralyze the Northeastern U.S. That being said, between the media hype and the fact it is pretty darn nasty outdoors, most companies from DC to Boston have told their work forces to stay home. Does this mean that job searches should screech to a halt as well. I assume that most of you realize the answer is NO!
If you have electricity, it is the perfect day to check out job boards, LinkedIn, individual company websites, etc. Send out some resumes, write some emails, do some networking then take a break to shovel snow or clean off your vehicle! While most people in the impacted areas are out of the office, many of them may be glued to their computers and other devices.
With little else to do right now, many hiring managers might have time to properly focus on resumes. If you happened to be one of those who were industriously submitting to companies, you might be rewarded by a surprise reach out today! if not, you took a big step in your self marketing process! Good luck!!
