Career Services

Colleges and universities are very quick about sending fund raising letters to recent graduates.  Career Services offices at many colleges and universities (based on numerous conversations) are not so efficient at partnering with recent grads to guide them through the job search process.  No school should ever promise placement to anyone but they should provide high quality coaching and direction to their alumni such as interview skills, networking, and a simple list of places who have hired recent alums in their field of study.

Industrial manufacturer of quarry products in Lake Hopatcong, NJ, seeks temp-to-perm individual to receive incoming calls, assist customers in proper selection of products (gravel, sand, etc), provide price quotes, process purchase orders, and schedule deliveries. Computer literacy, strong phone skills, willingness to work in a highly industrial setting needed. This job contains full time hours with definite potential to convert to permanent status. Part-time Position


One of my clients, an attorney in Berkeley Heights, needs a temporary office support position initially for 10-12 flexible hours weekly. Temporary Work Available in NJ

Our client, in the Madison NJ area, seeks a Receptionist/Clerical Support from 2/10/20 until mid April on a temp basis. Duties will include (but not limited to) answering phones, scheduling appointments, logging returns into the system, filing, etc. Candidates must have pleasant and professional phone skills, be extremely discreet and reliable, and have at least 2-3 years of related exp. Pet Peeve

A pet peeve reappeared this afternoon.  My phone rang and the caller was responding to a job I posted earlier today. I quickly determined they were not a good fit but I usually allow candidates to ask me a few questions since they took the time to seek employment.  What I do not appreciate is being asked a question then am interrupted the moment I begin replying.  If a recruiter is kind enough to chat, please treat them with respect! HR Administrator

We are seeking an HR Administrator to become a part of our client's team in Saddle brook NJ! You will be responsible for managing HR activities for the organization.
Responsibilities:
  • Process new hire background checks and related materials.
  • Coordinate projects focused on employee recognition and dedication; engagement; and  learning..
  • Communicate with outside benefits vendors.
  • Oversee data entry and maintenance of employee records.
  • Create reports based on HR metrics.
  • Provide updated employee information to payroll department as needed. 
Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in Human Resources (1-2 years) or a combination of work exp and internships.
  • Exp. w/ HRIS / HRMS, and all MS Office tools.
  • Fundamental knowledge of labor and employment laws. 
  • BS in Human Resources or similar discipline is necessary.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work with others while maintaining a professional yet welcoming persona..

Upcoming Workshop

Foundations of Success Workshops and Jewish Family Service of Somerset, Hunterdon, and Warren Counties invites all women to a program on Friday, January 17, 2020 from 10:00 am-12:00 noon at JFS, 150-A West High Street, Somerville, NJ. “Resilience” will be presented by Jeanne Rohach, Coordinator & Facilitator, Foundations of Success Workshops, Dress for Success Northern NJ - 10 Counties

A state of well-being is needed every day in order to withstand the pressures of raising a family, experiencing transitions, working at a job, dealing with health problems, navigating relationships, healing and surviving through all types of trials and tribulations. In this workshop we will explore some of the key concepts provided in the book Resilient – How to Grow an Unshakable Core of Calm, Strength, and Happiness by Rick Hanson, Ph.D.  Experiential practices will be shared with an emphasis on exercises for developing the inner strengths of calm, courage, and self-compassion.

Tax Season Help Needed

 3+ month assignment (w/potential to convert to perm) available for the current tax season w/our client in the Clark NJ area. Duties to include receiving incoming tax docs and scanning them into the system, receiving completed returns from preparers and also scanning them, emailing completed tax returns to clients.  Other tasks to include answering phones, directing inquiries to the proper parties, scheduling appointments, and other work as assigned.
