An effective cover letter knocks on the employer's door and introduces your unique personality, passions, and accomplishments to the hiring manager. Friday, August 18th, from 9:45 am - 12:00 Noon: The Professional Service Group of Mercer County and the Princeton Public Library will co-host Mark Beal: who will give a presentation titled: What They Never Taught You in College. Whether established in a job for many years or transitioning to a new career, all of us need to evolve. Be A Student For Life is not only the final lesson in my book, 101 Lessons They Never Taught You In College, but it is a mindset and an approach that we all must take to continue to learn and transform as professionals. This interactive session is intended to inspire us all to learn, evolve, transform and continue to deliver value in our current role or the next one on the horizon in our respective careers. Saturday, August 19th, from 8:30 - 11:00 am: Careers in Transition (CIT) meeting. Individuals give a 15 second elevator speech about themselves -- who you are, what you are looking for, target companies (2-3), how the group can help you, and how you can help the group. This is followed by a short period for networking with people you would like to introduce yourself to and exchange business cards. The group then divides into smaller teams for: 1) Resume Assistance, (Please bring 15 copies of your resume if you want it reviewed.) or 2) Support in Overcoming Job Search Obstacles. This includes: A) Small group advice for individuals who have hit the wall and need help to reinvigorate their job search, or B) Large group discussion on various job search related topics.
