Cashier Needed on Register 1

Many retail operations are short handed as crunch time rapidly approaches. With unemployment remaining low, the pool of candidates willing to perform retail work is quite thin, almost non-existent in some places. While there are significantly less big box and department stores in existence this year, those that are still thriving gobbled up the majority of the available retail-friendly work force months ago.
What can smaller, sometimes privately owned, merchants do to augment their staff for the holiday period? For starters, they should consider offering generous merchandise discounts to their seasonal staff. Some people might actually pursue a job with a (for example) home improvement store if they have recently moved into a new home and could take advantage of discounted goods.
Thinking out of the box is another option. While there is a fee or markup involved, consider calling a local staffing firm and placing an order for contract staff as they have access to resources others probably will not. Sometimes, staffing firms are aware of folks who might be Businesses simply agree to a mark-up (bill rate) and do not have to worry about any paperwork, separation at the end of season, etc,
