Placement Flashbacks (Memories from over 30 years in the staffing field). #3

Placement Flashbacks (Memories from over 30 years in the staffing field). #3

Most placements follow the same lifecycle process from taking down a job order to identifying candidates, screening them and submitting resumes followed by setting up and managing the interview process and ultimately presenting an offer to seal the deal. Occasionally, they occur in a different manner. About 13 or 14 years ago, a specialty equipment manufacturer based in NJ asked me to find a highly unique sales manager to cover Florida and the Caribbean region for them. I managed to find the needle in the haystack and they had a few terrific phone interviews. The hiring manager had scheduled a business trip to South Florida which included an in-person interview. My assumption was that they would meet at a local eatery. Instead, my candidate hosted the client on his small boat and they combined the interview with a fishing trip where the offer was presented and accepted! One never knows what might work in the staffing field but flexibility is certainly needed!
